Volunteer Opportunity: Eugene Friends help on each 2nd weekend of the month with the Interfaith Breakfast at First Christian Church, for people in need. Our next weekend is Saturday, January 11, and Sunday, January 12. We need more helpers! If you would like to add your name to the list of potential volunteers, or get more information, contact our coordinator, Cims Gillespie
Meeting in the Middle Social Hour returns on Sunday, January 12, at 10 a.m. These quarterly gatherings were very popular a couple of years ago and we’ve had a leading to bring them back. We invite 9:00 Meeting Friends to stay late and 11:00 Meeting Friends to come early to enjoy fellowship and worship sharing.
Overnight Parking Shelter Information Session: Our meeting is considering options for assisting at least one internally displaced person seeking refuge and access to transportation and services. One option to explore is the St. Vincent de Paul Overnight Parking program. On Sunday, January 12, at 12:30 p.m. we will hear from representatives and other congregations who have helped individuals find shelter. Please join us for this information and Q & A session. Friends might also have an opportunity to discuss a particular individual’s hope to qualify for that program. Ben McIver grew up in our meeting and is invited to get to know us during our Meeting in the Middle social hour, 10-10:50 that day.
Midweek Evening Worship: Worship-Ministry-Nurture Committee brings to EFM a midweek Worship, on 2nd & 4th Tuesdays, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m., in the Meeting Room, with a brief “post script” and home… by 9:00. Our next Meetings for Worship are Tuesday, January 14 & 28. Come join us.
Quaker Studies Resumes on Wednesday, January 22, 7 – 8:30 p.m. in the West Room. “Continuing Revelation” is our theme for our first class of 2020. The Spirit (the Divine, the Light, God…) is still speaking to us. Please join us for an experience of this ancient Quaker practice. Please register on the sign-up sheet on the hall table. To all who register, we send reminder emails with an outline of the program and often send background material too. It is not necessary to have attended previous classes.
Meeting for Worship for Business: If your committee has seasoned an agenda item to bring, please email it or call me by Wednesday, January 22, to get on the agenda. Please bring your lunch and come to Meeting for Worship for Business on Sunday, January 26, at 12:45 p.m. Thank you! Ethen.
