Meeting for Eating and Monthly Birthday Party- Join us Sunday, October 6, at noon for a potluck lunch with birthday cake. This is our monthly chance to share food and get to know each other better. Everyone with an October birthday is invited to sit at the south table.

Volunteer Opportunity: Eugene Friends help with the Interfaith Breakfast at First Christian Church, for people in need every 2nd weekend of the month. Our next weekend is Saturday, October 12, and Sunday, October 13. If you would like to add your name to the list of potential volunteers contact our coordinator, Cims Gillespie.

Clerk’s Gathering, Saturday, October 12, 10:15 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. We invite officers and committee clerks (or one representative from each committee) to bring a lunch and come prepared to discover how we can weave our work together into a tapestry of Community. After lunch our Quaker Studies Committee will help us to discuss Quaker Process for committee clerks. Cynthia Black, Ethen Perkins.

Worship Sharing- Sunday, October 13, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room. The queries are “How do we as Quakers deal with conflict in our Meeting? How do we discern when eldering is needed for the health of our Meeting?” A description of eldering is attached to this email and is posted in the library. We can deepen both our Friendly connection to each other and our personal spiritual practice during this monthly 2nd Sunday gathering. All are invited, especially those new to Quakerism. Worship-Ministry-Nurture.

Understanding Dementia: On Sunday, October 20,at 12:45 p.m. Friends are invited to a special presentation from the Alzheimers Association on “Understanding Dementia: Effective Strategies for Interaction and Communication.”Abby Gershenzon will share her knowledge and wisdom on this subject, which touches all our lives. For more information contact Maria Qualtere.

Quaker Studies: Wednesday, October 23, 7-8:30 pm – West Room. “Deepening our Experience of Vocal Ministry—Giving and Receiving” is the focus of our second class. How do we discern if, how and when to give vocal ministry in Meeting for worship? How do we listen to the vocal ministry of others with openness and without judgment? Through experiential exercises and worship sharing we will explore these queries. Please register on the sign-up sheet on the hall table. It is not necessary to have attended previous classes. For more information contact a member of the Quaker Studies committee: Pattiebuff Bear, Carol Giantonio, or Alexis Reed.

Meeting for Worship for Business: If your committee has seasoned an agenda item to bring, please email it or call me by Wednesday, October 23, to get on the agenda. Please bring your lunch and come to Meeting for Worship for Business on Sunday, October 27, at 12:30 p.m.  Thank you! Ethen Perkins.
