Eugene Friends Meeting

Eugene Friends Meeting

of the Religious Society of Friends ("Quakers")

How can we become better neighbors for the wildlife that shares our outdoor spaces?

How can we tip the scales in our gardens a bit further towards healthy sanctuary for nature?

How can we pay forward the gifts we receive from nature?

The Earthcare Ministry is under the care of the Peace and Justice Committee of the Eugene Friends Meeting.

Eugene Friends Meeting members have been taking action to care for and restore ecosystems worldwide for decades. We currently have a fledgling Earthcare Action Group which organizes events and actions to support and care for Nature in ways that are grounded in Quaker testimonies of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, and Equality.

Contact the Earthcare Coordinator for the schedule, and to receive periodic News and Events updates. Some current topics:

  • Native and medicinal plants
  • Bees and other pollinators
  • Our trout-friendly landscape
  • Local actions against pollution and for restoration

Currently Earthcare Action Group meetings are on the first Sunday of each month at 12:45 pm, at the Meeting House (childcare is usually available). Anyone with a leading for Earthcare action is welcome!

You are also invited to join us for a monthly Earthcare Outdoor Worship, on the third Sunday each month (rain or shine) at 10:45 a.m. at the Masonic Cemetery in south Eugene. We will meet up the hill from the mausoleum building. There is a low cement wall structure to sit on, or bring your own chair; also, perhaps a blanket and an umbrella! At noon, we will unify with Friends at the Meeting House for hospitality and conversation.
